What is happening

We lauched MHTV about 5 years ago. It was the first site to offer on-line streaming video for mental health. We have about eighty titles. It was a great success and attacted considerable publicity, including a long item on radio four and was a finalist in the NHS innovations award 2008.

Notwithstanding this success we feel that  changes are required. A number of factors are driving this, not least of which is the great problem with the cost of maintaining the site and developing new material.  Even with our charitable status it has proved impossible to get grant support from anywhere. Subsidising the site from commercial work and DVD sales can only go on for so long.

In addition there have been some significant technical advances in streaming and downloading video. Now seems a good time to take advantage of these improvements.

So, in the future we will be offering some titles on an open access basis and others, more suited to a specialist educational audience, on a pay per view basis, and offering completion certificates for continuing professional education. We are looking at the most cost-effective way of doing this.

In the meantime, we have developed our on-line catalogue at www.mentalhealthtv.co.uk. You will find some video samples there.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions we would love to hear from you.
